Trinity Night Club 8 Year Anniversary

They've been very good to me since day one even when I left my residency there for another club that has already came and went! If i'd never left i'd probably still be there. It's all good though because i'm still there regularly and they'll always be family in my book. They do a great job and it obviously shows being that they're still up and running strong after 8 years time. Anyone involved in the nightlife business knows our years are equivalent to dog years. photo 5b21b2c6-fb83-40db-a61f-4e46b6152676_zpsc0dd0fb2.jpg photo 0a23c7d3-0b16-454b-8a9b-ef40f2a6757c_zpsce265c1d.jpg I want to first and foremost thank Trinity night club, owners, staff and management for doing a wonderful job. I congratulate you on your continued success and wish you more for years to come. photo 3e959ad0-7979-4e94-b746-12d74464d2f4_zps67809a92.jpg

When Should A DJ Stop?

My fiancée asks me pretty regularly "how long do you plan to DJ?" Maybe she wants to know how much longer she has to sleep on her own due to my late nights, how many more records I need to add to our loft, or how many spots I’m going to drag her to so I can watch someone spin. I talked to an internationally renowned, legendary DJ a few years back about this, and his parents made the same point, saying "okay, you've seen the world, you've won awards, when are you going to settle down and get a sustainable career?" This question blows my mind, because some of us will spend a great part of our life working on this craft that we love so much, only to possibly be left behind. What jobs can you apply for at the age of 35 or 40, where listing “DJ” on your resume will land you a management job in the private sector, with an 80k salary and benefits? What are possible "DJ related" careers that you can get into when you feel like you're too old to be in the club? Music Supervisor for TV, Film? Licensing? Teaching? There's a question of stability here. You can be a popular DJ for a few years, and be able to live off of your craft, and be forgotten the next minute, regardless of the fact that you invested 5, 10, 15 years of your life honing these skills. Then what? You’re fifty and just gonna go look for a job? This isn't like spending 10 years going to medical school or honing your craft in an industrial trade. We still see some of our elders doing their thing, from Kool Herc to Danny Krivit to Frankie Knuckles. Some of these cats have 30 years under their belts, and are showing no signs of slowing down. This provides huge inspiration, but, let's face it, these guys are superstars and most of us aren’t (although a lot of us may wish we were or are working toward that goal). So, at what point do you stop trying to book gigs for yourself in the club, weddings, corporate, etc, and maybe just keep it to a hobby level at home? How old is too old? I would love to hear from some of our veterans, who maybe have raised families and established careers through DJ'ing, or who have actually stopped DJ’ing and found peace with moving on. After 16 years of DJ'ing, I feel the same way about stopping as my dad did about retiring from work.

Some Real Talk

photo 803843f7-fcfa-4433-939b-8a2a4245b256_zps56b488fa.jpg My man Lan Tran out in L.A. was on a facebook status update rampage yesterday spilling some serious game.... Appreciate what you have right now, because you don't always get a second chance. When I see crazy people on the street talking to themselves I want to tell them about Facebook and Twitter. Shout Out to the Single Women that complain about being Single but NEVER go out! I guess Mr. Right is gonna break into your house then? Note to self: You can't make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. I spent my entire childhood wishing I was older. Now I'm older... and it sucks. How come when your wife is pregnant all her female friends rub her tummy & say congratulations but no one rubs your balls and says good job? My ex? We're not friends, we're not enemies. We're just strangers with some memories... You think your life is hard? Just think, theres a turtle out there that has been flipped on its back and can't get up. So Fuck your problems. Ain't no HOE worth losing your WIFE, & Ain't no BEEF worth losing your LIFE! My chinese friend died last week. So Yung. If they always lie about the little things, you just haven't found out about the big stuff yet. Your ex asking to be friends after a break up is like... Kidnappers asking you to "keep in touch" after letting you go. My life is like a romantic comedy except there's no romance and it's just me laughing at my own jokes. People will hate you, rate you, shake you and try to break you. How strong you stand is what makes you!!! Hoes are getting wifed up. Good girls are single. The good die young, and the ungrateful have everything. I speak 4 languages: English, Profanity, Sarcasm, and Real shit. Rich people stay rich by living like they're broke...broke people stay broke by living like they're rich. NEVER tell a girl to calm down... that b*tch will go psycho! Loyal women are being treated like hoes, and hoes are being treated like loyal women. That's the problem with relationships today. Drug dealers are always late. If your drug dealer is on time, it's the police. PEOPLE don't even say grace before meals anymore . They just hold their phone over the plate, snap a picture, & then upload it to instagram. Females will stop speaking to their friends over the littlest things but will forgive the same trifling ass dude a millions times. If you have an Internet connection to read this update, then you are too blessed to be stressed. Be thankful. Praise the Lord! Never make an arm wrestling bet with a man who has been single for longer than 6 months. NOBODY shaves FASTER than a chick expecting dick. My date last night : She said she wanted a magical night, so we had sex and then I disappeared.

The Japanese Voice Corder

photo e4_zps13c17715.jpg photo e3_zpsf3500a95.jpg photo o1_zps599f9692.jpg The enclosed records are made of simple thick plastic foil (red transparent), so you can cut them for one time with the special heavy recorder-needle. You can see the blue arm with two needles. The inner needles "directs" the second cutting needle on a special "track wheel" (the white piece in the centre of that machine. photo b1_zps69dc49b6.jpg photo e1_zps6c0c5696.jpg Made for super-rich japanese kids, the market wasn't ready for this expensive toy. It seems that Tomy hadn't produced very much, because this is one of the rarest japanese toys. So this is just another case of an unbelievable concept which was ignored by mankind! Million thanks to my friend Hiromichi from Tokyo!!! photo e5_zpsf36b59e5.jpg photo e6_zps12a74b65.jpg The box shows, this machine is pure fun!!! You were even able to cut postcards (enclosed cards show cute cats & dogs)!!!

Always Remember

photo 57e712b9-b84e-40d8-851c-cfc86e66d023_zps592a13ac.jpg DJs lead the way and everybody else follows. Ideas and innovations come from us and then hardware technology conforms to the purest technology of them all: humans and the human hand. The story of humankind and our relationship to juristic people (corporations) has been a common tale: we lead and they follow. Remember that. You are the technology. It is YOU! Innovation is always bottom-up and markets are exploited from the top down. We set trends and companies "exploit" them in the market. The story of most DJ technologies are the same in this respect, it is nothing different from the story of most media technologies in our human history. Our ideas, from designs to scratch techniques, and our dreams are interpreted by manufacturers and encoded into mixer/turntables/DVS. ideas come from DJs directly in R&D sessions, from online forums, from the web and creative networks in general. We you look at a mixer or a turntable or a DVS, you are looking at yourself. It is a mirror. Don't forget that. Simply think about the Technics 1200s. If DJs didn't adopt and adapt the use of that turntable, they never would have put a pitch fader, start/stop button, and a ground wire on the MK2 when it came out in 1979. That is because of DJs uses and modification of the uses of the turntable, NOT because that is what the company thought would be innovative at the time. They were catering to the market, to our ideas, to our dreams. We tend to put some much weight in the objects technology, but we are the subjects of it, we control technology (not the other way around). Stay up and stay innovative. - Djpedia -
