NYE 2010

Once again I'm pulling double duty this year. Catch me at the "W" Hotel from 8-10PM. Then I will be at Heavens from 11:30-2:00AM.

Happy New Year!

P.S.A. From DJ Sake One

Promoters say they wanna give people "something new" -- so they take tha lazy route and book new/up-and-coming DJs who cant really rock a party, INSTEAD of booking established/competent DJs and actually putting THOUGHT and EFFORT into their party to make it creative. Same old party with a new DJ = Double Fail. This has been a Public Service Announcement by tha Committee for Progressive Arts and Nightlife.

The Gene Dexter Show

This went down a few nights back at the AMBER restaurant & bar in Seattle, Wa. We popped 50 bottles of champagne while 70,000 viewers watched the live broadcast. 10 of Seattle's top djs spun sets using the new beats by Dr. Dre H.P. laptop & headphones. The Gene Dexter show held interviews on the red carpet and the party people rocked on. A great night with the who's who of the town. Thanks to all the came out for this historic night. Local rapper "Spaceman" walked away with the grand prize package including the computer, headphones, and dj program.

ZU @ Venom

I returned once again to Venom for the "ZU" party. I now hold down a dj residency here along with DJ Cide.

The night was damn fun! The booth isn't what it was when they opened years back and has changed quite a bit. I loved that old mixer with the isolators they original had installed. I'm going to have to see where it went so I can bring home if they are no longer going to use it.

I love to let the pics speak for themselves. Photos tell a story and they never lie. If no one knows what I do or what i've done, the proof is in the pudding right here. I'm only saying this because I had a new promoter ask me the other day have I played at many clubs, ever been out of town or did radio. I mean he doesn't know my story and neither would anyone else that doesn't know me.

So I post the proof right here when I blog so you can see for yourself what goes down when I play.

I'll be be back there this Wednesday night for "Life of the party II"

Saturday It's a Saturday....

I'm usually constantly rippin' & runnin' and don't have time for much these days. Last night I hit up a dinner party with friends before I had to go DJ.

Not only did I totally enjoy myself but I realized how much I've been missing lately by never getting out like I used to. It's important to reward yourself with family & friends. I'm going to dedicate more of time for things like this starting now. In fact I just might do a weekly gathering before the club every week. Who's down?

After tearing through the delicious food it was off to the club but not before a quick stop to where else but a record store?! Glad I stopped. Found a record I've been looking for. $1.00 well spent.

Finding records I want always makes me happy. So far so good. A great start to my Saturday night. Although the weather was terrible. Pouring down rain and high mile winds to boot. I made it to the club and jumped on at midnight the prime time hour.

Did my thing and the crowd was totally into it. Thank you people! A bunch of events coming up this next week. It's going to be bananas to say the least.

Dr. Dre Laptop?!

Yes. There is a new lap top that is a collaboration between HP & Andre Young. Supposedly it's a Mac killer. We will be giving one away along with the Beats By Dr. Dre headphones Wednesday night December 9th @ Amber in Belltown. Downtown Seattle, Wa. on 1st Ave. Party starts at 8PM. It will be broadcast live on the net via the Gene Dexter show and I have personally invited some of the top djs in town to stop by and check this machinery out for themselves. I will see you there.

Branch & Burleson x Lucky Strike

Was asked to dj for this very special one time fundraising event for the Branch & Burleson foundation that took place at the Lucky Strike Power Play Lanes, Restaurant & Lounge in Bellevue, Washington tonight.

The place was packed with NFL players, sports fans, and of course some groupies.

I touched the decks early to get it started. I've been wanting to play this spot since it opened and it finally happened. I did my thing as the sports memorabilia was raffled and auctioned off to the fans.

It turned out very successful. Thank you to all involved that made this fine event a reality.

Watch my schedule for upcoming future events at Lucky Strike - Bellevue, Wa.

Seward Park

The final piece of the puzzle in the Cold, Bold & Together collection. I caught up with Tony Gable last evening who was generous enough to present this original record to me completing my C.B.T collection of 45's that were released. This one's called "Seward Park" a very popular recreational area here in the Seattle area.

Romel Westwood

Here is another local Seattle modern soul lp that I completely remember being released. This album was literally everywhere. I can recall hitting thrift stores all day long looking for records and passing hundreds of copies of this up at each store. Romel was the winner of the KFOX Budweiser showdown talent contest. There is a 12" single that was released prior to this lp. I love the cover picture of him standing in front of the Paramount theatre. As with everything else that gets over looked or forgotten I had a hard time finding my copy of this when I decided I should have one. I figured I would find one the first day I went out and looked. Not the case at all. My man Trace Blends hooked me up with this copy. I did find two copies at a friends house but her mom didn't want to give up the goods. I eventually contacted Romel's wife and explained to her how I'm in the process of preserving the history of Seattle soul music and wanted to make sure he got his due credit after all these years. I wanted to include this in the Wheedles movie as well. After telling me she would relay the message I heard absolutely nothing from no one. It has been over a year now. I finally contacted the producer Nick Manson who has a test pressing with no label or cover art and tried to charge me an astronomical price for it. I declined as I knew I would get my hands on a copy sooner or later. It turned out to be sooner.

Pop Opera

Made my long awaited return to Vancouver, Canada this past weekend. Wow, I totally love this place!!!! It is beautiful. To top it off the party people just plain love good music. No commercial crapola b.s. was played period. Although I did get one request for a song from a drunk girl that appeared to wonder into the wrong club! The club itself was pretty dope.

There were two rooms and the long time homies were playing on the other side. J Swing, Flip Out & Kut Korners. Good seeing every one. It's been way over due. I used to come up here and hang out all the time. The border started getting really strict over the years and it was tough even if I just wanted to come go shopping and party. I got to meet DJ U Tern who is totally dope. Have you heard this guys edits?! BANANAS!!! He has a dope radio show as well.

U Tern

His lady Nina Mendoza warmed it up for me (Thanks!!!) and did a wonderful job. She really knows her ish.

Right when I was set to go on I got a surprise visit from the homie CL from Digiwaxx!!! N.Y. in the bldg.

Supreme La Rock & C.L.

Then in came the rest of the posse.......

Benito Blanco

Flip Out

I touched the decks and the party continued on....

It was definitely a fun one and a good one. Hope I get to do it again?!

Sipreano even partied with us until closing time!!!! Then I walked back to my hotel room after not seeing a cab in sight.

I Immediately knocked out and hit Beat Street records first thing in the morning.

Did a nice interview for a local tv show....

Grabbed a handful of records of course!

That M.C. Supreme was not one of them! I had to post a pic on g.p. though. Then off to the "Medina" cafe for one of the best breakfasts I've ever had in my lifetime! Yum. They were pumping joints in there too. I swear they had a dj hidden behind a wall?

After that a pit stop at the Safeway for some ketchup flavored potato chips to bring back to the homestead. Had to get back to rock Twilight lounge for the Tiffany Rodriguez calendar release party. Made it back exactly in the nick of time. Boy was I tired. Downed a 5 hour energy shot and rocked the house till 3AM.
